If you do not have medical insurance, you may be able to sign up for Virginia Medicaid or a health plan through the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace.

Virginia Medicaid

Virginia Medicaid is Virginia’s low-cost and no-cost health insurance program. It serves children, pregnant women, people living with disabilities and adults who do not have insurance. To qualify you must meet certain income requirements. Medicaid covers most medical and dental care.

Call center hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can also apply online at www.commonhelp.virginia.gov.

Federal Health Insurance Marketplace

The Federal Health Insurance Marketplace allows anyone who does not have insurance to purchase a health insurance plan of their choice. Depending on your income and family size, you may qualify for help paying for your insurance costs. Plans vary in what they cover as well as out-of-pocket expenses.

Open enrollment for 2022 health insurance plans will start November 1, 2021 and close December 15, 2021.
